The ACADEMIA BERCEO SALAMANCA is a Spanish school founded in 1994 by professional Spanish teachers, that through their common experience and feeling for the Spanish language, have got together to enable language students to learn Spanish through the most advanced techniques available. The Spanish school BERCEO is situated in the heart of old Salamanca, Spain, two minutes from the Plaza Mayor. We have make renew the classrooms, air conditionner, snack coffee... Berceo is the only Spanish school in Salamanca adaptaded for people with fisical problems. Students who are studying Spanish language with us have internet service (free) and they can receive calls and fax (free). Students can also bring their own laptop to connect it from any classroom.

The quality of our Spanish teaching is guaranteed by our many years of experience in the world of teaching Spanish as a foreign language. We have brought together all the qualities one would expect to find in a good Spanish school. We have a permanent staff of qualified Spanish teachers, all with degrees in Spanish literature and all fully experienced in teaching Spanish as a foreign language

Moreover, they are all fully conversant with modern methods of Spanish language teaching and this, together with their cheerfulness, enthusiasm and dedication enables the students to attain the best results in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

The goal of the SPANISH SCHOOL BERCEO is to ensure that our students learn to understand, speak and write Spanish in the shortest time possible and with minimal effort, and that this knowledge remains engraved in their memory forever. In order to achieve this objective most efficiently our teaching system incorporates the most up to date methods and technology. Our curriculum concentrates on communication without neglecting the formal aspect of language teaching.

Academia BERCEO Salamanca has six levels of language, classified according to the proposal done by the European Council of Cultural Cooperation: From the student who has never had contact with the Spanish language until which, having an ample competition in Spanish, he feels necessity to review or to reinforce some of his aspects.

The first day of course a test of classification oral and written will take place to assign to each student the level that better adapts to its previous slight knowledge.

We have a scholastic calendar where the dates of course beginning are specified, but is possible to begin every Monday. If you do not have any previous knowledge of Spanish, we advised to you to begin first or the second day of course according to the calendar proposed by the Institute. BERCEO is open throughout the year and offers an ample range of courses of 2 to 5 hours daily for the particular necessities of each one. Like means school so large, we are the sufficiently great thing to assure a program education correctly structured, and at the same time we are the sufficiently small thing to guarantee the individual care and attention that the student needs, and all it in the sense of friendship and international understanding that is something very special in our school.

We incorporated in our courses all the skills and microskills: theory and grammar practice, comunicativas practices, auditory understanding, understanding of reading, written expression, oral interaction, vocabulary, phonetics. We structured our classrooms with a maximum of ten students. This way, the professor can value without difficulty the individual variables, develop open and creative exercises that allow the active use of the Spanish language, tasks which they imply the understanding and the interaction, as well as of incorporating by means of negotiation procedures and consults, the necessities and the expectations of the students to the process of education and learning.

GRAMMAR THEORY AND PRACTICE: Thanks to the explanation of the theory, the student learns the grammatical structure, morphology and syntax at each level. By means of written and oral exercises the student puts into practice the knowledge acquired previously.

AURAL COMPREHENSION: With the help of audio and video cassettes the student gains an intensive and wide ranging experience of the language. This also enables the student to understand the essential meaning of a paragraph, extract relevant information, gauge the attitude of speaker, etc.

TEXTUAL COMPREHENSION: The students reading ability and vocabulary are developed by the use of widely differing material - from simple texts to literary ones.

SPOKEN SPANISH: much of the time spent in the classroom is devoted to Spanish speaking and pronunciation. Students often work in pairs or small groups. They have the opportunity to take part in all sorts of activities: discussions and debates, textual analysis and simulation, problem solving and homework.

WRITTING: by means of creative writing work such as answering letters, writing notes and messages, articles and stories, essays, criticisms and reports, commercial writing, grammatical structures are established and vocabulary is expanded until the student is able to express him or herself correctly in writing.

We try to follow a balanced program throughout the day and for the duration of the course. Our aim is to be accurate, to help the student grasp the grammatical structure, pronunciation, comprehension, vocabulary and the written language - to make him or her fluent in Spanish. Our method has enabled thousands of students to return to their own countries with a knowledge of Spanish which is both competent and creative.

We have six different levels of language, classified according to the proposal that the Council makes of Cultural Cooperation European, from the student who has never had contact with the language until which, having an ample competition in Spanish, he requires to reinforce or to recycle some of its aspects. GENERAL COURSES OF SPANISH LANGUAGE L01.- GRAMMAR COURSE OF SPANISH LANGUAGE (2 hours daily) - 1 hour of functional and structural grammar - 1 hour of communication practices This theoretical-practical course is dedicated to those students whom they try to reach the dominion of the Spanish in his syntactic structures, morphologic and semantic, in addition to the functional contents. L02.- PRACTICAL COURSE OF SPANISH LANGUAGE (2 hours daily).learn Spanish in Spain, Salamanca, Academia Berceo Instituto Español - 1 hour of oral expression and auditory understanding - 1 hour of reading understanding and written expression Dedicated to those students who, with a Spanish grammar base, need to strengthen their Spanish spoken and written as well as his comprehensive capacity. L03.- BASIC COURSE OF SPANISH LANGUAGE (3 hours daily ). - 1 hour of theory and grammar practice - 1 hour of comunicative practices 1 hour to choose between: - Oral expression and auditory understanding - Understanding of reading and written expression L04.- STANDARD COURSE OF SPANISH LANGUAGE (4 hours daily) - 1 hour of theory and grammar practice - 1 hour of comunicativas practices - 1 hour of oral expression and auditory understanding - 1 hour of understanding of reading and oral expression L05.- INTENSIVE COURSE OF SPANISH LANGUAGE (5 hours daily ) - 1 hour of theory and grammar practice - 1 hour of comunicativas practices - 1 hour of oral expression and auditory understanding - 1 hour of understanding of reading and oral expression For the levels A1 and A2: - 1 session of Spanish oral interaction and lexical extension For the rest of the levels: - 1 session of Hispanic culture D06.- PREPARATORY COURSES D.E.L.E. These Spanish courses are programmed in three levels for students who wish to obtain any DELE (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) only official Spansih titles sent by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Spain and the Cervantes Institute. at Academia BERCEOThose levels have two annual calls that are made in the months of May and November. There is a extraordinary calls in August (to consult dates with Berceo). The tests will consist of five parts: Spanish grammar and vocabulary, Spanish oral expression, Spanish understanding of reading, Spanish written expression and auditory understanding. Given the character of these examinations, the INSTITUTE OF SPANISH BERCEO offers monthly and quarterly Spanish courses of specific preparation for these examinations. These Spanish courses have the following daily content: -1 hour of theory and grammar practice -1 hour of oral expression -1 hour listening and phonetic understanding by means of audio-visual. -1 hour of reading understanding and written expression -1 hour of vocabulary and special registries of the Spanish; colloquial Spanish, modismos... BUSINESS SPANISH These Spanish courses (N07-N08-N09) have been fashioned for those who wish, in addition to gaining a solid grasp of the Spanish language, to acquire a more detailed knowledge of the Spanish use in the world of business and law. This option includes a series of special subjects. The CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF MADRID makes every year several examinations for the expedition of Certificates and Diplomas Basic or Superior of Spanish of the Businesses and Tourist Spanish. The Classroom of Spanish of the Businesses of the INSTITUTE OF SPANISH BERCEO has programmed two courses for the obtaining of these titles. N07.- PREPARATORY COURSE FOR THE CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS SPANISH On completion of this Spanish course, you will possess sufficient command of Business Spanish to allow them to hold your own with ease in typical business situations. 5 hours daily. It consists of the following subjets: -1 hour of theory and grammar practice -1 hour of comunicativas practices -1 hour of oral expression -1 hour of terminology of the businesses: practice of written expression and communicative understanding of the Spanish of businesses and banks -1 hour of commercial correspondence N08.- PREPARATORY COURSE FOR THE DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS SPANISH When you have completed this Spanish course will have a fluent command of both spoken and written Spanish, and will be able to compose accurately reports, letters and other business documents in Spanish. Furthermore, you will acquire a detailed knowledge of contemporary Spanish social economic and business trends. 5 hours daily. It consists of the following subjets: -1 hour of theory and grammar practice -1 hour of comunicativas practices -1 hour of oral expression -1 hour of the language of the administration of the businesses: written expression of the language of the businesses -1 hour of social and economic system of Spain N09.- CURSO PARA PROFESIONALES DE TURISMO Spanish course directed by technicians of companies and tourist activities, specially indicated for those people who dedicate themselves to professions related to the tourism; guides, agents of trips, recepcionistas, waiters... 5 hours daily with the following matters: - 1 session of theory and grammar practicelearning Spanish language inSpain, Salamanca, Academia BERCEO - 1 session of oral expression - 1 session of understanding and writing - 1 session of commercial correspondence - 1 session of geography, art and Spanish customs SPECIAL COURSES OF SPANISH LANGUAGE E10.- PRIVATE LESSONS Personalised Spanish lessons at all levels. Especially tailored for students, who wish to learn Spanish, revise or widen their knowledge of Spanish language, culture, literature, business Spanish.... and adapt themselves to their profession. You may choose the number and timing of Spanish lessons. This option is offered all the year round. E11.- INDIVIDUAL COURSE OF TOTAL IMMERSION Ideal Spanish course if you have a limited time at your disposal, or if you prefer individual Spanish approach, need to rapidly acquire an in-depth knowledge of Spanish (at any time of the year) through complete Spanish individual immersion in the subject. In order to attain this goal, you have continual and exclusive access to a personal tutor during the majority of the day. E12.- SPECIAL SPANISH COURSE FOR TEENAGERS STUDENTS Course adapted pedagogically for children and adolescents (up to 16 years). HOW TO ARRIVE AT SALAMANCA

The fastest and direct form is to travel in airplane until Madrid. From Madrid they hourly leave buses and trains towards Salamanca, from the 07:00 h. to the 22:00 h. The trip from Madrid to Salamanca lasts approximately two hours and average. Also bus or train can travel in from its country of origin to Salamanca, if it does from Europe. There is a regular line with two trips to the week that pass by several countries.

BERCEO offers Special a Private Service of Transfer from the airport to Salamanca. A driver with an automobile will look for the student until the airport and will directly take it until your accommodation in Salamanca. This service is offered of individual way or for groups. In case of choosing this modality, it will have to previously make the payment of the transport to the Institute.

ACCOMMODATION IN SALAMANCA

BERCEO offers its students a wide range of Spanish accommodation options. Whichever you pick, you may rest assured that it has been chosen only after having passed our demanding selection procedures. The options are as follows:

SPANISH FAMILIES: this is the best way of both practising the Spanish language and becoming familiar with Spanish customs and habits. Families chosen by Academia BERCEO have been selected with the greatest care, live in the city center and their accommodation enjoys all modern conveniences, and you will be welcomed as another member of the family.

Students may choose either a shared double room -H.D.- or single room -H.I.-, and opt for either full board -P.C.- (three meals a day) or half board -M.P.- (breakfast and lunch).

He can be in the family the days that wish, the payment is made exactly by the days of stay.

We carefully evaluate the information you give us in the "remarks" on the application form and try to find a family which fulfills the needs of the students. It is important to know if you smoke or if cigarette smoke bothers you, if you like small children or domestic animals, if you have an allergy or illness, or if you need a special diet. The family is responsible for the cleanliness of the room. The student must bring towels for his or her own personal use.


FLATS: one option is to share an apartment with other students. One can choose a single -H.I.- or double room -H.D.-. The apartments have all the necessary comforts and all include heating, kitchen and washing machine. It is not necessary to bring sheets or blankets; only towels and personal belongings.

Type A: these apartments are situated about ten to twenty minutes away from the center of Salamanca. Their price varies depending on whether they have a television, telephone, dining-room, sitting room, etc.

Type B: these apartments are in the center of the city and have all facilities.

NOTE: if anything special is required, please mention it on the application form under "remarks”. BERCEO will reserve the rooms according to the availability of the moment. The rooms are only rented like minimum by two weeks, (always in multiple of two) adapting their rent always to the scholastic calendar of the BERCEO Spanish courses.

HOTELS
In Salamanca we have to disposition of our visitors a great variety of hotels and hostals of different categories, prices and quality. If you wish to live in a hotel, you must contact with us and we will give you, depending on your exigencies, a list of possibilities so that you can choose.

UNIVERSITY RESIDENCES
The residences have been selected based on the quality and the proximity to BERCEO. They have outer rooms, common zones with television, video and dining room. It consults the modalities of lodging available in each one of them.

APARTMENTS
They are small independent apartments, of one or two seats, with a room (individual or double), a bath, cooks and a small hall Se must make the reserve with enough advance.
