Spanish is a language that can be practised in many different ways, by reading books, watching films in Spanish, listening to songs… but one of the most enjoyable and entertaining ways to learn Spanish in Spain is to do so while you cook a typical dish from the Spanish cuisine.
This activity is very common in Spanish schools, and many have it as a special section in the course program. This type of exercise is very important for students to be able to learn Spanish and the Spanish culture outside school classes, by doing it in a more enjoyable way: by cooking.
This activity is also useful to learn how to prepare our country’s cuisine’s best dishes from, such as the tortilla de patata (Spanish omelette) or the paella, to then be able to make them and enjoy them at home with your classmates.
In most cities of our country there are special offers for cooking courses that are very useful to learn Spanish practising with people you don’t know and, at the same time, make friends you can talk with and improve your level, many of them are organised through the city’s council.
In this post we recommend a popular book on Spanish cuisine. It is the “1.080 cooking recipes”, from the author Simone Ortega, who was awarded the special Gastronomy award in 1986, and who has sold more than 3,5 million copies until now.
