It is a traditional liquor and it is very consumed in the Navarre region, as well as in some parts of Spain, it was already known and drunk by citizens from the area in the middle ages. It is a drink many students undertaking Spanish classes in Navarre areas, Aragón, La Rioja or the Basque country decide to try.

The pacharán, mainly produced in Navarre, is a drink derived from natural alcohols obtained through sloe maceration into anisette, which has an alcohol content of between a 25% and 30% of the volume. It has a bouquet and fruity taste, sweet and pleasant taste, is red or intense rosé and has an attractive aspect.

Bottle of pacharán

You usually have it in a stem glass or a frozen glass which can cool it without the need for ice, because it melts and cuts the taste of pacharán. It is perfect to have after lunch or dinner, mainly for its digestive action and its sweet taste, so if someday you go out to have lunch or dinner with your classmates from the Spanish school it is normal for the waiter in the restaurant to offer a glass of pacharán after desert.

It is a drink which is usually very dangerous for inexperienced people who don’t know it well, as its pleasant taste invites to have more than a glass, which will produce a hangover the next day, we therefore advise you, if you want to go to your Spanish basic, intensive or dele course in a perfect state, not to drink more than one glass of pacharán.
